Nigeria Navy Ship (NNS) QUORRA has successfully concluded its maiden Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) training with a graduation ceremony held on Friday, July 18, 2025.
The intensive two-week program, which commenced on Monday, July 7, saw participants undergo rigorous training in critical maritime safety competencies including Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Fighting and Prevention, Elementary First Aid, Personal Safety and Social Responsibility, Security Awareness, and Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS).

Training Highlights
Fire Fighting
Hands-on training in fire prevention, containment and extinguishing techniques using modern equipment.
Survival Techniques
Practical water survival skills including life raft deployment and emergency procedures.
First Aid
Emergency medical response training for maritime environments.
ECDIS
Comprehensive training on Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems.
Certificate Presentation
During the closing ceremony, participants were awarded certificates in Basic Safety Training and ECDIS Operations. The Commandant of NNS QUORRA, Commodore Benjamin Onalo, personally presented the certificates to each graduate.

Looking Ahead
With the success of this maiden edition, NNS QUORRA plans to conduct regular STCW training batches to meet the Nigerian Navy's requirements and potentially extend training opportunities to civilian maritime professionals.
